Case Study: 2006 Global Mixx DJ Retreat (GMDR)
Client: On The Street Promotions

Brief: On The Street Promotions set out to produced their third installment of The Global Mixx DJ Retreat, which is an industry exclusive networking and entertainment conference for music executives and DJs, which takes place in Chicago.

Strategy: With the Kanye West and Common tapped as honorary co-chairs, CBP’s strategy was to capitolize their celebrity as well as the confirmed celebrities, celebrity DJs and record labels, scheduled to attend in order to draw media and corporate sponsorship interest.

Campaign: CBP serviced press releases announcing events, music performances, award show nominees, and DJ coalitions in attendance. CBP designed the official 2006 press kit and serviced and/or pitched over 100 media outlets with a relative audience reach. A sample of the press serviced includes:

  • Print- Fader, African American Times, Rime Magazine, Heated Magazine, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Playboy Magazine, Fusicology, Rolling Out, Chicago Defender, Chicago Clubline, Chicago Reader, Red Eye, Daily Chronicle, Associated Press, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, and more.

Result: The GMDR was covered in all forms of media outlet. Several outlets requested exclusive coverage including Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and BET.

CBP granted exclusive media coverage to BET’s Black Carpet, Rolling Out Weekly and Ozone Magazine.

GMDR has renewed their contract with CBP for their 2007 events.
